Leading a spiritual life doesn't mean you can avoid any bad from happening. It's about being able to give an answer to what is happening in your life without running to the past or future.

When we know we are eternal spirit beings and connect to that inner power, we don't mind so much if we feel fragile or sensitive or angry.
This painting is a reminder that we can be present with whatever happens. We can let all these energies pass by and let them touch us as we stand in the middle of it in our own power.

When I painted this our home was on the line. We received a message that the municipality wanted to buy all the homes in our street to demolish them. We lived here for 17 years. This is not a house it is a home and my children grew up here. We couldn't let them take that away. A great passion arised in us to fight for our home and for those in our street and we succeeded. This is a picture about familylife, about warmth and shared passion. A place where plans are made and dreams come true.

Looking with fresh eyes makes us aware of the miracle in all existence. It gives us room to play, to experiment, to develop, to laugh and to cry.

I started all four paintings in this series by writing inspirationally on the canvas. Many artist keep an art journal. I find the paper in a journal always too small. Still it is beautiful to see which inspiration comes naturally. I wanted the text to be part of the picture and keeping the text pivate at the same time. This resulted in experimental, intimate, playful paintings.
Inspiration appears when I surrender and listen to the wispers of my soul.
Honestly? is my response to the police brutality that has led to death of George Floyd.
Sweet rebel is a embrace of my two sides the experiental rebel and my sensitive side.
